Out of the Unknown
Is actually a British television science fiction anthology drama series, broadcast in four string between 1971 and 1965 and produced by the BBC. Each incident was a dramatisation of a science fiction short story. Some were written for the string, but many were adaptations of stories.
The first three years were science fiction, but that celebrity was abandoned at the final year in favour of horror/fantasy stories. Several episodes were wiped during 1970s, as was normal procedure in the time. A significant quantity of episodes continue to be missing but a few do generate every so often. As an example, Level Seven from series two broadcast on 27 October 1966 has been returned for the BBC from the archives of a broadcaster at January 2006.
