Cruel Romance

Adapted from a Republican-era book called"The Fate of Jinxiu", Cruel Romance tells the story of Rong Jinxiu (Chen Qiao En, a land girl who travels to Shanghai in order to find why her entire family was killed. On the way, she meets triad leader Zuo Zhen (Huang Xiao Ming), and following some series of injuries and misunderstandings, both fall in love. Vying for Jinxiu's attention is businessman a businessman and friend of Zuo Zhen, Xiang Yingdong. Ever protective of his woman, however, Zuo Zhen refuses to let men even come near Jinxiu -- when a villainous Japanese person attempts to complete off her remaining relatives along with Jinxiu that pays off.
