Shadows
John Cassavetes debut revolves round a romance in New York City between Lelia, a light- skinned black woman, a man that is white, and Tony. The relationship is put in peril when Tony meets Lelia's more darker-skinned jazz singer Lady and discovers that her legacy just isn't exactly what he thought it was. Shot with a mostly nonprofessional cast and team on location in Manhattan, Shadows is actually a work that's widely recognized as the forerunner of the American independent film movement.
